From Garden to Table: Growing, Cooking and Connecting

Whittington Neighbourhood House is proud to care for a community garden plot at Grinter Garden Reserve, located at 125 Coppards Road, Moolap. This shared space is more than a garden—it’s a place where learning, wellbeing and community connection grow side by side.

Produce grown in the garden is harvested by community members and used in our Community Cooking classes in the Whitty Kitchen. Participants experience the full journey from garden to table, learning where food comes from, how to prepare it in healthy and affordable ways, and how shared meals can bring people together.

By linking gardening and cooking, we support practical food skills, improved nutrition and positive mental wellbeing. Just as importantly, the garden creates opportunities for people to connect, share knowledge and build relationships—reducing isolation and strengthening a sense of belonging.

This collaboration reflects our commitment to food security, sustainability and community-led learning, where everyone has the opportunity to grow, cook and share together.
